On this episode, Cyrus is joined by Sagarika Ghose, journalist, columnist and author, to talk about sharing her pet name with the name of the former CM of Bihar, studying at DPS R.K. Puram and being a junior of economist Raghuram Rajan, becoming a Rhodes Scholar at a time when very few women got into thr program and how it's changed today, studying at Oxford University, the identity crisis she had in England, how and why she got into journalism, how she joined Times of India as an assistant editor, reporting on all that was going on around 1991, reporting from Ayodhya during the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, then joining Outlook magazine under its founder and editor-in-chief Vinod Mehta, and lots more. Cyrus also asks Sagarika about her books - 'The Gin Drinkers: A Novel', 'Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister', and 'Why I Am a Liberal: A Manifesto for Indians Who Believe in Individual Freedom'. They also answer some interesting AMA questions about the state of journalism today, how to trust politicians and the ongoing election campaigns in Bengal.
