Big news on the Merger (or re-structuring of leagues as AIFF and IMG-Reliance call it) that shows that existing ISL teams and 3 I-League clubs will form the new national top division in the 2017-18 season itself, thanks to a new stance from Atletico de Kolkata owner Sanjeev Goenka.
We go into the nitty gritty of the rules and regulations that the merger has to iron through before it can happen by November, and also predict when we will get a full picture on the re-structuring. We also discuss what it means for the teams that won't make the cut in the new top division and what they have to do to survive the forced relegation.
Also in the discussion table is the last 2 rounds of I-League which will take place between 18th and 22nd or 23rd April. We talk about a possibly climactic end to the I-League title race, involving full houses and thousands of traveling fans; a spectacular end to what will possibly be the last season of the I-League as we know it.
In the end we hear from East Bengal and Indian national team defender Arnab Mondal who opens up about his career, and dreams he has for playing in the national team, and the gritty determination for winning more accolades with the Blue Tigers.
